Henry S. Davis, age 76, a native of Pensacola and a resident of Robertsdale, passed away Monday, Sept. 3, 2012.
Mr. Davis was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a weapons specialist after serving 20 years. He worked with his brother, John Davis, for over 20 years at Davis Pump & Well Drilling. He was also a thoroughbred racehorse trainer. Davis was preceded in death by his wife, Bobbie Davis; son, Henry E. Thorne; two brothers, George “Buck” Davis and Frank Crowe. He is survived by two daughters, Ginger (Randall) Grant and Kathy Jones both of Robertsdale; three sons, James “Jimmy” (Tonya) Davis of LaGrange, Ga.; Davis C. Thorne of Mobile; Robert Thorne of Charleston, S.C.; brother, John H. Davis of Loxley; five sisters, Marie Carr; Betty Myer; Leona Crowe; Viona Wilbanks and JoAnn Miller all of Pensacola, Fla. 15 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 7, 2012 at 2 p.m. at the Robertsdale First Baptist Church. A visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday at Mack Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Retired Veterans Assoc., 5436 Peru Street #1, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
