William Spencer Helms III, 69, a native of Montgomery and a longtime resident of Daphne, died Monday, May 7, 2007 at a local hospital.
He was a member of Eastern Shore Baptist Church and an associate member of the Fairhope Fraternal Order of Police.
Sonny, as he was known by family and friends, was a former bus driver with the Mobile Transit Authority and had been a supervisor with NYCO Security and President of Pillow World Inc.
Survivors include his wife of 45 years, Elaine Helms; four sons, Spencer R. Helms of Gulf Shores, Rodney F. (Deborah) Helms of Tucson, Ariz., Bobby Helms of Daphne and Eric R. (Kimi) Helms of Daphne; and four grandchildren, Kathe, Matthew, Sierra and Taylor Brooke.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at the Eastern Shore Baptist Church.
Instead of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to the Eastern Shore Baptist Church Building Fund.
Cremation arrangements are by Hughes Cremation and Funeral Services of Daphne.
