Marvin A. Hanks Jr., 83, a native of Evergreen and a resident of Spanish Fort, died Friday, May 30, 2008 in Fairhope.

He attended the University of Alabama and was a U.S. Air Force veteran of World War II. He retired from Scott Paper with 26 years of service. He was a member of Spanish Fort United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Bernadine A. Hanks of Spanish Fort; son, Marty (Debra) Hanks of Daphne; four daughters, Christine (Brown) Shearer of Fairhope, Patricia (Frank) Parsons of La Grange, Ga., Nancy (Harvey) Jones of Point Clear, Barbara (Thad) Burgess of Dawsonville, Ga.; one sister, Elizabeth (George) Sparks of New Windsor, Md.; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, June 3at Wolfe-Bayview Funeral Home in Daphne. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday. June 4 at Spanish Fort United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Belforest Catholic Cemetery.
