Serving seafood, steaks and other dishes, Half Shell already has several locations along the coast and in the South, including six in Alabama, including Spanish Fort, Mobile, Cullman, Pelham, Trussville and Tuscaloosa.
Half Shell is opening in the old Foley Bakery building at the corner of North Alston Street and West Laurel Avenue. The building was most recently Colt Grill BBQ and Spirits, which opened in January before closing this summer due to a federal investigation into the owners involving alleged criminal activity including money laundering and labor exploitation, resulting in the indictment of four people.
Brian Raspberry, vice president of operations and commercial development for Gulf Coast Restaurant Group, the parent company of Half Shell, told GCM on site Wednesday afternoon they are hoping to open early next year.
