BAY MINETTE, Alabama — Ashlynn Hale has joined the Bay Minette Police Department as its animal control officer.

She takes over the position from Rebecca Jernigan, who had served in this role for five years. Hale is a 2016 graduate of Robertsdale High School and has experience in rescues, vet tech and other areas of animal care.

She has previously volunteered with Saraland Animal Shelter and Saraland Veterinarian Clinic.

Hale has been an animal lover all her life and owns two dogs, one cat and seven chickens.

"We look forward to a new and exciting journey with ACO Hale! ACO Hale has hit the ground running and seems to be doing well," said Police Chief Al Tolbert. Hale has created a Facebook page called Bay Minette Animal Control Lost/Found & Adoptable Pets.
