Alfred J. Hackbarth, 88, a native of Birmingham and a resident of Foley, died Sunday, June 3, 2007 at a local hospital.
He was a retired salesman, volunteered at South Baldwin Regional Medical Center, and was a member of the Josephine Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a World War II veteran, and served in the Air Force as a bombardier. He was shot down in Germany where he was a POW.
Survivors include two daughters, Brenda (William) Amirante of Chapin, S.C., and Janice (Joe) Spivey of Warrior; son, Robert (Carol) Hackbarth of Mobile; sister, Minnie Comancho of Lakeland, Fla.; grandchildren, Daniel Knebelsberger, Caroline Brooks, Denise Gravatt, Scott Stolz, Joseph Spivey, Robert Spivey, Andrew Spivey, Kelly Picard and Kimberly Sweet; 11 great-grandchildren, and special friend, Delora Cheek of Foley.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, June 6 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. Visitation was held Tuesday, June 5 at the funeral home.
