Guy Rankin was born to Guy and Ruth Rankin in Sheffield, Ala.
He graduated from Sheffield High School and attended Florence State College and Auburn University.
Guy spent his entire working career at Bessemer Utilities, retiring in 1989.
After retirement he and Sarrah built their dream home in Greystone, near Birmingham, where they lived for five years before getting the wanderlust.
They headed west in a 40-foot motor home, named the Odyssey. They wound up in Fort Mohave, Ariz., where they built a home and lived there for four years.
They returned to Alabama and have lived near Weeks Bay for the past 13 years.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Chapel in Magnolia Springs, where he served on the vestry and supervised the building and grounds.
Survivors are his loving wife, Sarrah; sister, Alta Ruth (Beezie) Lindsey; nephew, William R. Lindsey; niece, Lindsey Carter; and two great-nieces, Jordan and Caroline Lindsey, all of Madison, Ala.
A celebration of life will be held there at a later date.
