The Pinta, replica of Christopher Columbus' ship, will open at LuLu's Gulf Shores Friday, Dec. 16. The ship will be docked at 200 E. 25th Ave., Gulf Shores and open to the public until Monday, Dec. 19.

The Pinta was the first ship to sight land in North America Oct. 12, 1492. The Pinta tours as a sailing museum for the purpose of educating the public and school children on the caravel, a Portuguese ship used by Columbus and many early explorers to discover the world.

While in port, the public is invited to explore the Pinta. Admission is $8 for adults, $7 for seniors and $6 for students aged 5-16 years old. Children 4 and under are free. The ship is open every day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. No reservations necessary.
