GULF SHORES, AL - The Gulf Shores Swim Team welcomed more than 300 swimmers as they hosted the Gulf Coast Area Aquatic League Championship at the Bodenhamer Recreation Center on July 25 and 26. Swimmers representing nine area teams competed in 136 events during the course of the meet.
The home standing Dolphins sent 45 swimmers into competition and wasted no time making waves on the Second Division leaderboard as the 8U Boys relay team of Asher Pampel, Will Langston, and Graham and Miles Uter claimed the 100-yard freestyle and 100-yard medley titles.
Pampel continued his dominating performance in the individual side of the competition with victories in the 25-yard freestyle, 25-yard breast stroke, 50-yard freestyle and 25-yard fly.
In the end Gulf Shores stood atop the Second Division standings earning their first division title in three years.
“I am so excited and so proud of our team,” Coach Brook Hopkins said. “This team has worked so hard this summer and it is so gratifying to see it all pay off with our first division title in three years.”
