Mobile native Wes Loper spices up the 2007 Gulf Shores Outdoor & In free concert series Thursday, May 10, at 7 p.m., at the Erie Meyer Civic Center, 1930 W. Second St. in Gulf Shores.

Gaining recognition while entertaining professionally across the Gulf Coast over the last several years, Loper mixes rock, country, blues and folk music to create his unique musical style. Bring your lawn chair or mat for seating comfort to this outdoor event.

Loper has put together a band of well-traveled musicians to join him in delivering his beach flavored tunes. Made up of Mobilians Alice Grayson and Lee Yankie on drums and guitar, Adam Perry of Mississippi on bass and local artist Lisa Cooper Smith on sax, this band is looking to break into the big time.

With thousands of performances on the road, including opening for country artist Tanya Tucker, entertaining is Wes’ specialty. He knows how to excite a crowd with the way he blends so many different genres. He finds the common ground of the audience and infuses his own flavor.

After enjoying much local success of his debut album, Take Me Home, Loper has released his second studio project, “Keep on Growin’.”

Pack up your friends and family and enjoy a show for all ages. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs; claim your spot on the Civic Center back lawn. In case of rain, they’ll just move the fun inside.
