Gulf Shores opens applications for 2026 fall nonprofit grant cycle

Posted

The City of Gulf Shores is accepting applications for the Fall Cycle of its 2026 Nonprofit Grants Program, offering funding to organizations that provide services and programs benefiting Gulf Shores residents.

The program is designed to support nonprofit organizations that address community needs and create a measurable local impact. Eligible nonprofits may receive up to $2,000 per grant cycle with a maximum of $4,000 in funding per calendar year.

“The Nonprofit Grants Program reflects our dedication to supporting organizations that make a real difference in the lives of Gulf Shores residents,” City Administrator Jon Walker said. “We want to ensure these groups have the resources they need to continue their important work.”

The city offers two funding opportunities each year through spring and fall grant cycles. Organizations are not required to be physically located in Gulf Shores but must provide direct services to city residents to qualify.

Applications for the 2026 Fall Cycle opened July 28 and will be accepted through Aug. 28. Award notifications are expected to be sent in early October, with funding scheduled for distribution in mid-October.

Grant funds may be used for project-based needs, event support and critical resources. Funding cannot be used for salaries, debt service, operational costs or political lobbying. When applicable, awarded funds must be spent at businesses holding a current City of Gulf Shores Business License.

Applications will be reviewed by the City of Gulf Shores Grant Review Committee. Priority may be given to organizations demonstrating significant local impact, efficient use of resources and a clear alignment with community needs. All applicants will be notified of award decisions, and feedback will be available upon request.

To be considered, applicants must complete an online application and submit information including the organization’s name and address, federal tax identification number, a copy of its IRS determination letter confirming 501(c)(3) status, a description of its charitable purpose and intended use of funds, names and addresses of executive staff and board members, a list of programs serving the Gulf Shores community and a detailed budget outlining the proposed use of grant funding.

Letters of support from community partners or beneficiaries are optional but encouraged. Participating organizations also must allow opportunities for City of Gulf Shores employees to volunteer for special events or as needed.

Organizations receiving funding will be required to submit a final report within 30 days of project completion. The report must include an overview of the project’s impact on Gulf Shores residents, such as the number of residents served, funds raised or other measurable outcomes, along with a vendor and supplier list detailing business addresses and expenditures made with grant funds. Photographs or media from funded projects or events may also be submitted when applicable. Multi-phase projects may be required to provide interim progress reports as determined by the Grant Review Committee.
