GULF SHORES, Alabama - Gulf Shores High School head coach Brittany Brewer honored five volleyball seniors after a Senior Night match against Madison County on Thursday in the Tank at GSHS.

Brewer said that seniors Jessica Chavez, Erin McKee, Sierra Sollenberger, Lauren Tait and Ann Banks Walker had been valuable assets to her in her first season as head volleyball coach at Gulf Shores.

"I love them, this was my first year and without them I couldn't have done this," Brewer said. "They have been the support of this team. They get everything ready for me, they push the younger girls, they get practice ready every day. They have been a great group of leaders. I am going to miss them."

Madison County took the match 25-20, 25-15, 25-21 in a tune-up for both teams before this weekend's Shrimp Fest Tournament hosted by Gulf Shores High School. Local and regional teams will compete in the two-day tournament at Gulf Shores High School, Gulf Shores Middle School and Foley High School. Play begins at 2 p.m. Friday and continues throughout the day on Saturday.

"There are 21 teams from all over Alabama," Brewer said. "It is going to be a great tournament. We would love to have a good turnout. We have several from Baldwin and Mobile Counties and a lot from north Alabama. They love coming down here for the tournament every year."

Freshman Taylor Hurst had eight kills and two blocks, McKee had eight kills, Chavez had six kills and Tait had 24 assists and a block for Gulf Shores against Madison County.
