Gulf Coast prostate cancer patients could access new treatment at Urology Associates

Posted

Urology Associates has become the first urology practice in the United States to offer Vabrinty, a breakthrough injectable treatment for prostate cancer patients, according to a news release from the practice.

Vabrinty, an Androgen Deprivation Therapy injection, works by lowering or blocking male hormones, such as testosterone, that can fuel the growth of prostate cancer cells. By introducing the therapy in Mobile, Urology Associates says it is placing the Gulf Coast region at the forefront of prostate cancer care nationwide.

“This is a significant advancement not only for our practice, but for the patients and families we serve throughout the Gulf Coast region,” Dr. Zachary D. Reardon said in the release. “Offering the latest treatment options close to home means our patients can access innovative care without leaving their community.”

The first patient in the country to receive Vabrinty in a urology practice setting was treated at Urology Associates under Dr. Reardon’s care, marking what the practice describes as a historic milestone for both itself and patients along the Gulf Coast.

Prostate cancer remains one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers in men, making access to new and effective treatments critical. Urology Associates says it continues to expand innovative services, advancing the standard of care for patients across the region.
