ROBERTSDALE, Alabama — A Wilcox area man is in jail on more than a $1 million bond after Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies say found a massive marijuana growing operation on his property.

Ronald Hudson, 60, of County Road 64 in the Wilcox area of Robertsdale, was arrested June 30, charged with drug trafficking and possession of drug paraphernalia.

According to reports, an outdoor growth operation was spotted from the air by state troopers, leading Baldwin County Sheriff’s Deputies to Hudson’s residence, where they found a “sophisticated indoor growth operation with sprinkler systems and lights.”

In all, according to reports, deputies seized more than 400 marijuana plants from the property, along with 7 pounds of processed and bagged marijuana.

According to reports, Hudson told authorities he was giving the product away to family and friends and was not selling it.

He remains in jail on a $1,001,000 bond, according to Baldwin County Corrections records.
