Goodwill Gulf Coast will host its 37th annual Greer’s/Goodwill Gulf Coast Golf Tournament on May 14 at Magnolia Grove Golf Course in Mobile, bringing together business and community leaders for a day of competition and philanthropy.
Sponsored by Greer’s Markets, the tournament supports Goodwill’s mission to provide education, skills training, early childhood development and employment opportunities for individuals and families across the region, a news release said. Proceeds from the event help fund those programs, which serve people facing barriers to employment and economic stability.
Participants will play a full round of golf and compete in a Hole-in-One contest with the chance to win a new car. The event will also feature raffle prizes along with breakfast and lunch for players.“We are incredibly grateful to Greer’s Markets for their unwavering support and generosity in sponsoring this golf tournament for over 35 years. Greer’s dedication to giving back truly embodies the spirit of making a difference, and we are honored to have them as a longstanding partner in building brighter futures,” Barry Reed, Goodwill Gulf Coast CEO, said in the release.
The tournament began in 1990 when Mitt and Sara Boyd organized the event in honor of their grandson, David Boyd Cox, alongside members of the Greer family, including Jack Greer and Bartee Greer. Over nearly four decades, it has grown into a signature fundraising event for the nonprofit.
Greer’s Markets continues as the major sponsor. Joe Bullard Chevrolet and Thames Batré Insurance will sponsor the Hole-in-One competition.
Sponsorships and team registrations are open. Businesses and individuals can learn more at www.goodwillgulfcoast.org or contact Tony Zodrow, vice president of marketing and development, at (251) 656-2998.
