FAIRHOPE, Ala. — Page & Palette, 32 S. Section St. in Fairhope, will host Chef Mike Wallace and Michael Herzog of the Grand Hotel Marriott Resort, Golf Club & Spa on April 8, from 4 until 6 p.m., when they will sign copies of “Grand Traditions.”
It is a cookbook/coffee table book that both local residents and tourists will love.
Herzog is the Grand Hotel’s director of food and beverage and led the effort to create the 160-page book after he discovered that such a book had never been published.
It is a combination of the hotel’s history, recipes and stories of the guests and employees throughout the years.
Wallace, hotel executive chef, has included not only main course recipes but also the dessert and drink recipes that guests have loved for years.
Founded in 1847, the Grand Hotel was used as a hospital during the Civil War, and has seen its share of celebrities passed through its door.
President Gerald Ford, Alabama head football coach Paul “Bear” Bryant and more recently actor John Goodman have all enjoyed the hospitality and culinary delights of the hotel.
Wallace and Herzog will exclusively sign all books purchased from Page & Palette.
