Mae Dell Goodwin, a resident of Oakwood Nursing Home, died, Friday, June 8, 2007.
She was born in Iuka, Miss., on Dec. 7, 1918. She was employed by Bromberg Jewelry in Birmingham from 1947 to 1995 and for many years she was the leading diamond salesperson in the Birmingham area; was an active member of the First Baptist Church of Bay Minette, where she participated in the Sanctuary Choir, Sunshine Singers Senior Choir, Happy Hearts, Keenagers and many other church organizations. She was also part of t he Red Hat Club of Bay Minette.
During her early years in Bay Minette, she served as a member of the North Baldwin Infirmary Auxiliary. She participated in many activities in Oakwood Nursing Home, including the bell choir.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Goodwin; her parents W.H. Long and Lecia Biggs Long and two sisters, Gladys Seay and Carrie Bryant.
Survivors include a sister, Marilyn Colmant of Knoxville, Tenn.; two sons, Bill (Lisa) Goodwin of Robertsdale and Dennis (Pat) Goodwin of Bay Minette; five grandchildren, Kathy Goodwin of Hot Springs, Ark., Bill Goodwin Jr. of Conway, Ark., Greg Goodwin of Gulf Shores, Denise Pouncey of Brandon, Miss., and Brock Goodwin of Annapolis, Md.; seven great-grandchildren; two nieces and four nephews.
A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 10 at Bay Minette First Baptist Church.
