Take one part simple yoga and mix in 20 parts adorable baby goat and you have the recipe for a fun family activity.
Diamond Marie and her partner, Brandon Styles, have been entertaining Baldwin County residents and tourists for the past five years through the Brandon Styles Theater at OWA. She also owns and operates Gulf Shores Entertainment Agency, which brings events and entertainers to the area. Goat Yoga - Foley is her newest event.
"We like to entertain," she said. "Goat yoga came about because I like yoga and goats and I have always wanted to do goat yoga. I like to bring events to the area that are fun to do for families and our community."
The first goat yoga class, scheduled for Feb. 19, sold out in 10 days. While she wasn't surprised it sold out, she was surprised by how quickly.
"I wasn't surprised it sold out, but it is something new. I have been marketing here for five years so I was a little scared and thinking what if people don't like it because I love it so much," Diamond said.
She didn't need to worry.
The sellout of the February class did create the demand for at least one more in March.
"Because we are a small town I don't know if the demand is going to be where we can do it once a month, but we will do it at least once a season in the least."
People attending the event can expect one whole hour playing with baby goats and some very basic and simple yoga.
But let's be honest, it is all about playing with baby goats.
"Don't come trying to be all serious doing yoga because you are just going to play with the goats," she said.
The events are rain or shine but Diamond considered that when picking a venue. The classes will take place at the Coastal Alabama Farmers Market in Foley under the covered pavilion.
