George Elvin Devine, age 80, a retired local farmer, died Monday, June 25, 2012 at his home in Loxley, AL surrounded by his family and friends.

The son of George W. Devine and Sarah Ann Lona Garner Devine, George Elvin was born on Oct. 18, 1931. He was a loving, generous, and caring husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, son, brother and friend. Mr. Devine served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean Conflict. He is preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Elbert Vernon Devine. Survivors include his wife, Anita Horton Devine, three sons; George E. (Shirley) Devine, Gary Wayne Devine, and John Stephen (Margo) Devine, one daughter; Darlene (Clifton Peters) Chappell, all of Loxley, AL, one brother; Elmer Earl Devine of Robertsdale, two sisters; Frances Lois Ludwig of Merritt Island, Fl and Eunice Ann (Bill) Chavous of Daphne, AL, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Mack Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 28, 2012 at 10 a.m. at Mack Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Bachelor officiating. Burial will be in the Baldwin Memorial Cemetery, Robertsdale, AL. Arrangements are by Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, Hwy. 59, Robertsdale, AL.
