George “Bob” Irvin Faulk, 88, a long time resident of Greenville, and a resident of Gulf Shores, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011.

He was a highly decorated veteran of World War II, earning a Purple Heart for his service in the Normandy Campaign. He was a recipient of the American Campaign and the European African Middle Eastern Campaign Medals, and received numerous other awards and recognition over the course of his distinguished military career.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Ann Herring Faulk; second wife, Billie Hart Faulk; son, Glenn Hart; and grandson, Michael Faulk.

Survivors include two sons, George “Mickey” Faulk, Huntsville and Bruce Faulk of California; two daughters, Laura Hart, Prattville and Robin Encarnacion of Texas; grandchildren, Jasper Faulk, Mason Faulk, McKenna Faulk, Devon Sistrunk, Nicole Sistrunk, Shanon Sistrunk, and C. J. Sistrunk; and great-grandchildren, Jack Faulk and Ben Faulk.

Visitation begins at 1 p.m. with funeral services 2 p.m. Saturday, March 26 at Pine Rest Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Pine Rest Memorial Park.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Gulf Shores Church of Christ, 2414 W. First St., Gulf Shores, AL 36547.
