George Allen Price, 75, of Lillian, was called home to heaven on Aug. 31, 2014.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dolores Annette (Miller) Price.
George was born to John and Katherine “Sophie” (Zimmer) Price on Jan. 18, 1939 in Elberta. He was the oldest of five. His siblings include, Ramon S. Price, Claude H. Price, Eileen G. (Price) Swader (deceased) and Cheryl R. (Price) Walker.
George was blessed with three children, Jason A. Price (Sonya), John A. Price (Debbie) and Jill K. (Price) Meszaros (Robert). He was a proud grandfather of six grandchildren, Jason A. Price Jr. (Melissa), Megan M. Price, Victoria A. Price, Valerie R. Price, Erin S. Meszaros and Janley K. Meszaros; and three great-grandchildren, Danielle R. Brown, Joshua L. Brown and Rachel C Brown.
George served in the National Guard, and was called to active duty during the Berlin Crisis in 1961.
Afterward, he attended Pensacola Junior College and Mississippi Southern, where he studied chemistry. This led to his career at American Cyanamid for 33 years.
In 1993, George retired from the chemical plant. Soon, his industrious nature led him into a life of local politics where he served on the Baldwin County Commission for four years, from 2001-2005.
Throughout his entire life, George harvested his love of nature and agriculture while working on the family farm.
George’s long journey of faithfulness began on March 21, 1948, with his baptism at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Elberta. He was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 29, 1953.
George has been a member of Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Lillian since 1990.
His firm beliefs and values are clearly evident in the legacy he left behind through his family, friends and countless hours of volunteering in church and community activities.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Sept. 6, 2014, at 11 a.m., at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Lillian.
Memorials may be made to Good Shepherd Lutheran School in Elberta, Redeemer Lutheran School in Pensacola, or Shepherd of the Bay in Lillian.
