GULF SHORES, Ala. — The Gulf Coast Athletic Club (GCAC), which hosted Coach Bill Curry as their guest speaker on Aug. 29, awarded $5,000 to Gulf Shores High School to support the athletic department.
Dr. Earnest “Ernie” Rosado, principle of GSHS was present at the meeting to accept the award. The award was presented to Dr. Rasado by David Lee, GCAC president.
“Both the high school and middle school purchased new game uniforms this year, and this gift will help us pay for that”, said Dr. Rosado. We appreciate the commitment of GCAC to continually provide financial support to our athletics department and to our scholar athletes”.
“Since 2014, GCAC has given $31,000 in cash awards to the GSHS athletics, and tonight we are going to increase that to $36,000”, said David Lee, GCAC president. “Thanks to our members and sponsors, we are able to support the high school’s athletic programs and the students who participate.” Lee also mentioned that the club hopes to make at least one more sizable donation this year.
About the Gulf Coast Athletics Club:
GCAC, a civic organization dedicated to celebrating college football, meets every other Monday at Craft Farms club house. Meetings include a meal, speaker, team reports and the “crying towel award”. The Club raises money for the GSHS athletics department and for student-athlete scholarships, GCACs main sources of fundraising is its s annual golf tournament and donations to the Gulf Coast Athletic Club Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that accepts charitable donations.
