DAPHNE — As of May 1, Summer Moon Coffee in Daphne is now Gather + Grind.

For the past three years, Marcus and Kelly Allgood have operated the Daphne location of the national coffee shop chain, located at 1539 Highway 98, but after fulfilling their agreement with the company, they decided to go independent and Gather + Grind was born.

For local patrons, fear not. It’s still the same owners running the show with the same vibe as previous years, but with a refreshed space and a curated menu featuring both traditional and signature coffee drinks, along with infused sparkling beverages made with plant-based Lotus energy drinks, available in both caffeinated and caffeine-free varieties.

Marcus Allgood said one of the advantages of going independent is having more freedom over the menu options, saying his wife already has a whole list of new seasonal drinks that she documented in a spreadsheet, and people will begin to see what they have cooking up in the near future.

“We’re super excited about the rebrand and being able to keep all the money here local in Baldwin County and not have to send any more back to Texas,” Allgood said.

Gather + Grind is open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
