Full slate of activities at the Gulf Shores community house

GULF SHORES, Ala. — There is a full slate of activities to participate in at the Gulf Shores Harry Roberts Community House.

 Duplicate Bridge is played on Monday and Thursday afternoons 12:30-4 p.m. and during January, February and March on Tuesdays from 6:30-10:30 p.m.

Bingo

Bingo is played on the first Monday of the month beginning at 10 a.m. Come early for a complimentary blood pressure check. This quarter’s sponsor is Covenant Hospice.

Each Wednesday form 2-4 p.m. Open Arts and Crafts day. Bring your own projects and supplies and join others in a creative and entertaining afternoon.

Line dance lessons are on Tuesdays from 10-11 a.m. Have fun while sneaking in that extra workout: no experience necessary. Call to sign up at 251-968-1434.

Euchre is played on Tuesday afternoon during the months of January, February and March at 1 p.m.. No registration required.

Orchestra

Mobile Symphony Orchestra trip to hear  Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto plus Tchaikovsky Pathetique will be on March 20. Discounted tickets are available through the MSO box office at 251-432-2010. Ask for the Gulf Shores Senior discount rate, then call the center at 251-968-1434 to sign up for transportation to and from the concert.

Friday is game day. Sheepshead (cards) and dominos begin 9 a.m.

Sewflakes Quilters meet on Thursdays during January, February and March at 8:30 a.m.

Sign up now for a magnificent tour of the Biltmore Mansion and grounds and tour of the Ashville, N.C. area. You will be transported via a spacious, video and restroom equipped motorcoach to your destination. Trip duration is May 15-20. Cost for the six-day, five-night trip is $475 per person for  pp double occupancy: $75 due upon signing. Price includes eight meals and many extras. St. Patrick’s Day dinner and sing-a-long will be  at the Erie Meyer Civic Center. Tickets are available for $10 and may be purchased at the Harry Roberts Community House, Bodenhamer Recreation Center and The Adult Activity Center in Gulf Shores. Live entertainment and great food start at 5 p.m. and is BYOB.

Perdido Vineyard and lunch will be March 25. Enjoy a buffet lunch at the Stagecoach Café before journeying on to the vineyards to tour and taste the many flavors of wines and vinegars produced and bottled in South Alabama. You will also enjoy the history as told by the owner of the farm. Departure is 10:30 a.m. Call to sign up at 251-968-1434.
