BAY MINETTE - After trailing by 27 points at the half, the Faulkner State Community College Sun Chiefs pulled off one of their greatest comebacks and edged division rival Enterprise 77-75 in overtime Thursday evening at Bay Minette's Robertson Arena.
The Sun Chiefs outscored Enterprise 46-19 in the second half to force the overtime and then outscored the visitors 10-8 in the extra period to improve to 7-7 overall on the year and 1-0 in league play.
Foley's Rafael Adams led FSCC with 20 points and was joined in double digit scoring by Chris Joyner's twelve points, A.J. Roulhac's ten, and Deshun Tucker's ten points.
Rounding out the Faulkner scoring were Bay Minette's Xavier Dortch with eight, Spanish Fort's Reagan Eubanks and Logan Adams with six each, and Josh Milsap with five.
Things started very slowly for Coach Jack Robertson's crew. They trailed 8-0 before finally getting a Roulhac layup to break the ice. Adams added two free throws moments later but the visitors then scored seven in a row to lead 15-4.
Logan Adams and Milsaps had baskets for FSCC but Enterprise hit a trio of three pointers (they had a total of eight threes in the first half to lead 30-12.
It was 30-20 when Enterprise went on an 18-1 run to close out the first half. Adams, Joyner, Eubanks, and Roulhac all had baskets to open the final half and when Tucker and Rafael Adams hit two buckets each midway through the half, the lead had been trimmed to 15 at 61-46.
Logan Adams had two baskets, Dortch sank a long three, Joyner had a three point play inside, and Joyner added a layup off of a steal. Two more points from Rafael Adams made it cut it to 67-60 with 2:34 remaining. An Adams rebound basket and another Dortch three made it 67-65 with one minute left.
Tucker tied it with two free throws at :44 and then after misses from both teams, Tucker's three-point attempt at the buzzer just missed to send the game into overtime.
Tucker then sank a three to make it 70-70 in overtime and a Dortch drive gave Faulkner their first lead of the game. A free throw from Tucker and a Eubanks basket upped the lead to five at 75-70 but Enterprise converted a three point play down low.
Eubanks was then fouled with :26 left and sank both charity tosses to make it a four point game.
Enterprise then scored in the final seconds but it wasn't enough as the Chiefs had the win.
Faulkner returns to action on Monday, traveling to Andalusia to battle L.B. Wallace.
