Walter S. “Walt” Freitag, 59, a native of Gorin, Mo., and a resident of Elberta, died Monday, Feb. 11, 2008 at a local hospital.
He graduated from Gorin High School in 1967, then enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he spent 21 years as a mechanic. He traveled and was many places around the world during his Naval career. He retired in 1989 as an AS-!.
Survivors include his wife, Linda Boone Freitag of Brewton; sons, Michael (Rebecca) Freitag of Elberta, James (Michelle) Freitag of Robertsdale and Chuck Freitag of Foley; brothers, James J. “Jack” Freitag of Navoo, Ill., Stanley Freitag of Salina, Kan., and Robert “Bob” Freitag of Elberta; and two grandchildren.
Graveside funeral services and burial was held Friday, Feb. 15 at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Fla.
Arrangements were made by Mack Funeral Home, Robertsdale.
