Free Annual E-Cycling & Shred Day returning to Coastal Alabama

Posted

The Coastal Alabama Business Chamber has announced the return of the area’s Annual E-Cycling & Shred Day. The event is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024, from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Gulf State Park Beach Pavilion, located at 22250 East Beach Boulevard in Gulf Shores.

The annual tradition is organized in partnership with the Chamber, the cities of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach, the Gulf State Park, and sponsors Baldwin EMC and Baldwin County Sewer Service.

Shred Day is a free event, and attendees don’t have to worry about heavy lifting; volunteers will be on hand to quickly remove items from their vehicles. Among the volunteers will be the Chamber’s Junior Leadership students, who will be collecting tips for their program (tipping is optional but appreciated).

"We’ve done this event for well over a decade now and have really become efficient at it," Chamber VP of Special Events and Community Relations Steve Jones said, "We run rain or shine and folks don’t even have to exit their vehicles, it’s just a great way to help keep the community clean and clutter free.”

Attendees can bring any of their personal paper documents (such as canceled checks, credit card statements, utility bills, etc.) to be shredded. Each vehicle is limited to bringing 50 pounds of shred items, which will be shredded on-site. Attendees are asked not to tape or tie bags or boxes. Electronic items (such as televisions, computers, vacuums, printers, power tools, etc.) can also be brought for disposal, with the exception of any types of batteries.
