Frank (Reds) Shellem age 91 of Elberta, born April 29, 1921, passed away on July 11, 2012.
He was an Alabama Alumni and World War II Navy Veteran. After a career with Sears, he was retired for more than 30 years. Proceeded in death by his wife Mercedita M. (Dita) Shellem; two daughters Mercedita (Cedi) Mitchell and Anne Woodall. He is survived by two sons, Christopher Paul (Stella) Shellem of McComb, Miss., Mark Francis (DeeDee) Shellem of Moreland, Ga., daughter Michelle Marie (Nes) Shellem of Melbourne, Fla, son in law Michael Woodall of Decatur, Ga., along with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Always welcoming his family and multitude of friends with a smile and a joke, he will be missed by many. A funeral mass for Mr. Shellem will be held Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 11a.m. from the St Margaret's of Scotland Catholic Church in Foley, being followed by interment at Magnolia Cemetery in Mobile. Family asks that donations be made to St Benedict Catholic School, P.O. Drawer 819, Elberta, AL. 35530-0819 or St Bartholomew Catholic Church, 12795 S. Illinois St., Elberta, AL., in memory of Frank Shellem. Arrangements are by Cason Funeral Service in Foley.
