The 42nd annual Frank Brown Songwriters’ Festival will bring more than 200 nationally acclaimed songwriters to the Florida-Alabama Gulf Coast Nov. 5-15 for 11 days of live music, storytelling and songwriter rounds.
The festival will feature Grammy Award winners and emerging artists at venues throughout the region. Performances Nov. 5-8 will take place at multiple Gulf Coast venues, while most performances Nov. 9-15 will be held at festival headquarters at Flora-Bama.
The festival gives audiences an opportunity to hear the stories behind familiar songs directly from the people who wrote them. Through intimate performances and songwriter rounds, artists share the inspiration, personal experiences and unexpected moments that shaped their lyrics.
Many performances are free, while some venues and shows require a cover charge or ticket. Performance schedules, locations and admission information are available at www.frankbrownsongwriters.com.
The festival also supports music education through the Frank Brown Foundation for Music. Proceeds from the festival, along with sponsorships and donations, help fund scholarships and educational programs intended to encourage creativity and enrich students’ lives through music.
The festival is named for Frank Brown, the longtime Flora-Bama night watchman who served the venue for 28 years. The event continues a tradition centered on music, community and the songwriters behind the music.
The festival website includes the lineup, schedule, participating venues and updates. The festival mobile app also can be downloaded through the website or any app store on a mobile device.
