J.O. “Ted” Forsman, born Oct. 15, 1919, a lifelong resident of Silverhill, died Wednesday, July 21, 2010.
He was a veteran of World War II. He was a dairyman for years before becoming a cabinet maker. He was known throughout south Alabama for his quality cabinetry.
He had a quiet dignity and kindness about him; his life was a testimony to his strong faith in God. He was a lifelong member of the Silverhill Covenant Church.
One of the highlights of his life was a trip to Sweden to the home of his mother, who immigrated to the United States in 1904; this homeplace is still owned by family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Erika Forsman; his wife of 59 years, Margaret; and a brother, Earl, who preceded him in death by only 10 days.
Survivors include a daughter, Dixie White of Silverhill; son, Creighton “Peco” Forsman of Silverhill; seven grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one brother-in-law, many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 29 at Silverhill Covenant Church.
