ORANGE BEACH, AL - The WI Sno-bird Club met at the Orange Beach Event Center at The Wharf on Wednesday, Feb. 18, with 419 members present! Coffee and donuts begin at 8:30 am with the meeting starting at 9 a.m.

Committee chairmen presented their information about golf, Friday Sheepshead cards at the Harry Roberts Center in Gulf Shores, the Singles Club lunch, boat trip and other day trips, and volunteer opportunities.   Then we had door prize drawings and were ready to listen to our special speaker, Zeke Bratkowski, a former Packer quarterback!

Zeke is a University of Georgia graduate who was a National Football League quarterback for 14 years, member of the Green Bay Packers when they won three consecutive Super Bowl games and a coach for 26 years.

He reminisced about his years under Vince Lombardi and gave some anecdotes about the players on the field and in the locker room. He emphasized how important it was for the players to work together as a team to be successful.

As a long-time friend of Bart Starr he also passed on how Starr is working to recover from two strokes, one heart attack and now a broken hip.

At our meetings there is a puzzle/book exchange and we collect Campbell’s soup labels, Nestle water bottle labels, Boxtops for Education, motel-size toiletries, empty printer ink cartridges, pop top rings and manufacturer coupons. Be sure to check your e-mail address in the roster to get information about monthly summer luncheons in WI.
