BAY MINETTE, AL – Former Orange Beach police officer Timothy Andrew Gavin was found guilty on six counts relating child sex abuse on May 11 in Bay Minette.
Gavin was convicted on two counts of sex abuse, two counts of possession of child pornography and two counts of enticing a child. He faces 71 years on imprisonment at his sentencing hearing on June 16.
Gavin was first arrested on Aug. 1 2014 and made bond on Aug. 5 of that year. On Oct. 10 of 2014 he was again arrested and has been in the Baldwin County Correctional Facility since the indictment under a $150,000 bond since.
He was indicted by the grand jury on the charges in March of 2015.
The charges refer to an event in 2008 and records say involved a child under the age of 12. The alleged victim was between 8 and 9 years old according to court papers.
The Baldwin County Sheriff’s office, which handled the case, said the family of the victim came forward three days prior to Gavin's arrest, revealing the alleged crime which allegedly happened three to four years ago.
The victim is described by officials as a female with what were believed family ties to Gavin at the time of the incident.
