SPANISH FORT, Ala. — Dealing with the college athletic recruitment process can be an overwhelming undertaking for many students-athletes and families, and nobody understands this better than the NCSA Athletic Recruiting team. On June 14, former NFL coach and NCSA Athletic Recruiting educational speaker George Henshaw will be in town to offer advice and guidance on how to maximize your chances of receiving a college athletic scholarship. NCSA Athletic Recruiting is pleased to offer all families free admission to attend the acclaimed seminar, “College Recruiting Simplified,” at Spanish Fort High School on June 14 at 6 p.m.
The strength of NCSA’s Athletic Recruiting Team lies in its unmatched team of dedicated former professional athletes, coaches and broadcasters, all of whom have donated their time traveling the country educating athletes and parents at thousands of high schools, camps, combines and other events each year. Thanks to partnerships with the NFL Players Association and other professional organizations, these experts provide this education at no cost, meaning this an opportunity that no family should miss. It is a tremendous honor to be chosen as the site for one of NCSA’s seminars, and every student-athlete should take full advantage of this unique opportunity to learn from such elite speakers.
Included among the information to be provided at this great event is NCSA’s “The Five Things You Need to Know” and “The Five Things You Must Do to Get Recruited.” The following is a sneak peak at NCSA Athletic Recruiting’s advice, so that you and your family can start immediately down the road to success!
1.Develop a Game Plan and Get Evaluated. Every family needs an objective, third-party evaluation to determine the schools for which a student-athlete can realistically expect to qualify. A knowledgeable third-party can help you target 100-200 schools based on competition level, academic fit, location and program need.
2.Post Your Athletic and Academic Résumé Online. It’s crucial that you prepare a complete portfolio that allows coaches easy access to your current athletic and academic information.
3. Create a Compelling Highlight/Skills Video. Every student-athlete needs a highlight and skills video that best conveys athletic ability to college coaches. These videos are now typically streamed online and are sent to coaches and programs through e-mail. The best videos are digitally enhanced, sequenced properly and have spot shadowing.
4. Contact at least 50-100 Athletic Programs. College coaches contact thousands of student-athletes in order to satisfy their program’s need for players. Student-athletes should do the same. Contact at least 10-20% of the programs that offer your sport across all divisions.
5. Remember; It’s Not a 4 Year Decision, It’s a 40 Year Decision. Even if you aren’t a DI player, keep your options open! Develop a step-by-step plan to help you navigate the process.
