DAPHNE, Ala. — The Daphne Public Library, among others, was the recipient of the book “Forests For All” by Melanie Richardson Dundy. The book was donated by the Alabama Forest Owners’ Association Education Fund through a grant from the Alabama Forests Forever Foundation.
In making its donation, the association wants to provide sound information about forests and forest management to the children and future forest owners in Baldwin County, a spokesperson said.
With the help of Bo “The Bull” Elk, J.D. Beaver and their forest friends, children learn the importance of forests, the measures being taken to meet the demand for wood and wood products while unsuring the future health of forests, and the need for all of us to work together to protect our forests.
The book, intended for children 4 to 10, is fun, interactive and full of good information, the association spokesperson said. Children become aware of just how much the forests affect their everyday lives, whether they live near a forest.
The Alabama Forest Owners’ Association is a nonprofit association dedicated to providing management and ownership assistance to current and future owners of the 23 million acres of forested land in Alabama. More than 6,000 members participate in a wide variety of association activities throughout the state.
