Mary Fraser Ford, a native of Birmingham and a resident of Bay Minette, died Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2008.
She was one of the first two women licensed by the Civil Air Patrol in Alabama. She was also an artist, teacher and homemaker. She was active in her community and church, volunteering with the North Baldwin Infirmary and Baldwin Ecumenical Ministries for many years.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, O.L. Ford.
Survivors include a daughter, Lucia Ford (Charles) Partin of Bay Minette; son, Michael (Linda) Ford of Muscle Shoals; three sisters, Fey Fraser (Dave) Rumbarger and Edith Fraser (Bill) Keith, both of Birmingham; and Rebecca Fraser Cater of Jonesboro, Ark.; brother, O.W. Fraser of Palo Alto, Calif.’ three granddaughters, Mary Lucia Partin (Shawn) Gregory of Boston, Lylé Partin (Franklin) Reed of Bon Secour and Jennifer Ford of Birmingham; and three great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23 at Immanuel Episcopal Church in Bay Minette. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Birmingham.
