Sgt. Maj. Howard Smith Ford (ret.), 77, of Foley, died Tuesday, April 28, 2009.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army with over 20 years of service. He served during the Korean and Vientam conflicts. He was a life member of the American Legion Post 99 in Foley. He was also a life member of the Sergeant Major Association in Killin, Texas.
Survivors include his wife of over 45 years, Renate C. Ford of Foley; two daughters, Julia (Russell) Kindall of Mansfield, Texas, and Margie Sanchez of Mansfield; two sons, Howard Smith Ford II of Ratcliff, Ky., and Mack (Jodine) Ford of Vinegrove, Ky.; and eight grandchildrden.
Funeral services were held Thursday, April 30 at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Foley with the Rev. Keith Talbert officiating. Burial with full military honors followed at Barrancas National Cemetery, NAS Pensacola, Fla.
