FAIRHOPE, Alabama - The San Diego Chargers have announced that former Foley High School and University of Alabama offensive lineman DJ Fluker signed with the team on Wednesday.

Fluker, an offensive tackle, was selected by the Chargers with the No. 11 overall pick in the recent NFL Draft. According to a Pro Football Talk report the deal is worth $11.4 million over four years with a $6.6 million signing bonus. His contract comes with an option for a fifth year at the average salary of the 3rd-25th highest paid players at the position.

Originally from New Orleans, Fluker and his family were displaced after Hurricane Katrina and eventually ended up in Foley for his senior year of high school. He earned high school All-America honors from Parade and USA Today, among other publications, for his play as a senior and played in the 2009 US Army All-American Bowl in San Antonio.

He played for head coach Nick Saban at the University of Alabama from 2009-12 and was a part of three BCS national championship teams.
