FOLEY, Ala. — The Foley Public Library continues its free film series through May.

Movies will be shown each Tuesday, at 2 p.m., in the library’s meeting room.

Foley Public Library announces schedule of upcoming films

FOLEY, Ala. — The Foley Public Library continues its free film series through May.

Movies will be shown each Tuesday, at 2 p.m., in the library’s meeting room.

•April 7 — “Pan’s Labyrinth” In this fairy tale for adults, Ofelia stumbles on a decaying labyrinth guarded by a satyr who claims to know her future.

Melanie Schnieders introduces.

•April 14 — “Lonestar” The discovery of a skull and a sheriff’s badge buried outside a small west Texas town reveals a mystery that touches almost everyone in town.

•April 21 — “O Brother, Where Art Thou” Three convicts in the 1920s break out of jail with the ideal retrieving hidden money.

Along the way, they record a hit country song.

•April 28 — “Volver” Penelope Cruz stars in this Spanish film with twists of mystery and suspense by Pedro Almodovar.

Two sisters who lost their parents years ago visit their aunt in their home village who talks of their mother as if she were still alive.

•May 5 — “Rachel Getting Married” Anne Hathaway moves far from her princess image to play an addict on pass to attend her sister’s wedding.

The family interactions are both raw and subtle; the crazy wedding party is one you are excited to attend.

•May 12 — “Slumdog Millionaire” This year’s Oscar-winning film and darling of all the award shows is about a love story that couldn’t be stopped.

Set in the worst slums of Mombay, a young boy never forgets his first love and tries anything to find her again.

•May 19 — “Crash” Provocative and compelling, this action film which explores modern racial prejudices of all kinds won best picture at the 2005 Academy Awards.

It stars a great cast, which includes Sandra Bullock, Don Cheadle, Terrence Howard and Brendan Fraser.

•May 26 — “Doubt” Merle Steep and Phillip Seymour Hoffman are pitted against each other in this film that tackles issues of religion, morality and authority.

All the actors were nominated for Oscars for their performances.
