A $2 million project in Foley is among 25 hazard mitigation projects across the Southeast eligible for federal funding through FEMA's Pre-Disaster Mitigation Grant Program.
FEMA announced that more than $50 million in federal funding has been made available to seven Southeastern states through the Fiscal Year 2026 Homeland Security and Further Additional Continuing Appropriations Act. Nationwide, 125 projects in 40 states and one tribal nation are expected to receive more than $189 million.
The Foley project would use $2 million in funding for underground utilities improvements, according to FEMA.
The agency said the projects are intended to help communities and states take proactive steps to reduce risks before future disasters occur.
Before funding can be awarded, eligible communities must submit an application by 5 p.m. Eastern Time on July 22, 2026. FEMA will review applications and distribute funds only after confirming eligibility requirements have been met.
Applications must be submitted through FEMA Grants Outcomes, known as FEMA GO, the agency’s grants management system. Additional information is available in the Notice of Funding Opportunity on www.Grants.gov.
