Foley police seek information after gunshots shatter family's vehicle

FOLEY – Foley police are investigating and seeking information after a vehicle was shot while a couple and their two children were inside.

The Foley Police Department received several calls reporting the sound of gunshots near Juniper Street and Azalea Avenue around 7:12 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 4. Shortly after the calls, a family arrived at the police department with damage to their vehicle. The family reported hearing shots and the back glass of their vehicle shattering in the area where the calls came from.

The broken glass was located in the 600 block of South Juniper Street. At this time, officers are still actively investigating the shooting, according to the police department.

The victims are a husband and wife and two small children. The department does not feel the victims were intentionally targeted and possibly could have been a case of mistaken identity.  Investigators have had no evidence of any "rolling gun battle" with the victims being caught in any crossfire situation. Other media outlets reported otherwise, which the police department denies having given that information to those outlets.

“This incident is very concerning and not something that is typical of our community,” the department stated.

Anyone who heard or knows anything about this case should call (251) 943-4431, email at  or submit a tip on the Foley PD app.
