Foley’s municipal airport will welcome the public for its second annual open house Saturday, March 21, giving visitors a chance to tour the facility and learn about aviation operations.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Holk Field at Foley Municipal Airport, located at 510 Airport Drive near Underwood Road, Baldwin County 24. The airport is about five miles from the Tanger Outlet Center and roughly 15 miles from the Gulf beaches.
The city of Foley and Lightning Aviation, the company that oversees the airport, are co-hosting the event. Attendees will be able to tour the terminal and other areas of the airport, while representatives from aviation-related agencies and organizations will also be on hand.
The Foley Masonic Lodge will provide food for sale, offering meal deals for $5.
The airport, which has a 3,700-foot runway extending north and south, provides flight instruction, aircraft maintenance, aircraft rentals and other services. Since the inaugural open house in March 2025, which drew about 100 visitors, the city has renamed the airport Holk Field at Foley Municipal Airport in honor of former Mayor Arthur Holk, who died in 2021.
Planned improvements for Holk Field include new hangars, adjoining taxiways and upgraded drainage systems to support ongoing operations and growth.
