FOLEY — A Baldwin County man was arrested Tuesday on manslaughter charges after law enforcement officials say he shot a gun in the air at a party on Friday in Foley, hitting a Gulf Shores man who later died from his injuries.

According to a release issued Tuesday by the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a call at a residence on George Younce Road in Foley at around 7:45 p.m. Friday, Feb. 4.

When they arrived at the scene, they found Foley police officers attempting to save a 20-year-old Gulf Shores man whom they say had been shot during a party at the residence. He was taken to South Baldwin Regional Medical Hospital where he died from his injuries.

According to information obtained during the investigation, multiple shots were fired during the party from a semi-automatic pistol with one of the shots striking the bystander.

On Tuesday, a 21-year-old Foley man was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the case and is currently in the Baldwin County Corrections Center awaiting a bond hearing.

The Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office is conducting an ongoing investigation in the case. The Baldwin County Coroner’s Office and Foley Police assisted in the case.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Cpl. Paul Sturm with the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Command at 251-972-8589 or 251-937-0202.
