FOLEY, Ala. — A Foley man faces numerous charges stemming from an incident that occurred just before noon Monday. According to an Alabama Department of Public Safety release, Alonzo Duwayne Prim, 29, initially pulled over for a seat belt violation near the intersection of County roads 26 and 65, assaulted a state trooper then fled on foot.

Shortly after pulling over Prim's vehicle, the trooper discovered Prim had a pair of outstanding warrants for speeding and driving while suspended. When the trooper attempted to arrest Prim, he resisted, assaulted the trooper and took off on foot.

Prim led law enforcement on a nearly two-hour manhunt that required assistance from the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office, Foley Police Department and State Trooper Aviation before he was finally located and taken into custody.

Prim was charged with third-degree assault, unlawful carrying of a pistol, resisting arrest, no seat belt and no proof of insurance, in addition to the outstanding warrants. He is currently being held in the Baldwin County Corrections Center.

The trooper was not injured in the assault.
