The Foley Community Library will launch its Bites and Insights information series Sept. 15 with a discussion about invasive plant species affecting the Gulf Coast.
The free event will be held from 10 a.m. to noon in Canopy Hall auditorium at the library, 230 E. Orange Ave. in Foley.
Experts from Foley's Graham Creek Nature Preserve will discuss invasive plant species commonly found in Foley and throughout South Alabama. The presentation will examine how the plants can affect native habitats, wildlife, forests, wetlands and residential landscapes.
Participants also will learn how to identify common invasive plants and use practical management techniques to help protect local natural areas.
