Members of the Foley High School Air Force JROTC Color Guard presented colors during the city’s 37th Annual Celebration of Arbor Day. The event was held at the Coastal Alabama Farmers and Fishermen's Market, on Saturday, Feb. 24.
Foley Mayor John Koniar presided over the event. The Baldwin County Master Gardeners, and certified arborists, and representatives from the Alabama Forestry Commission were on hand to answer questions about trees. The city provided an assortment of trees in three-gallon containers to Foley residents, including the Southern Red Oak, Live Oak, Red Maple, River Birch and Green Arborvitae.
Bald Cypress and Southern Magnolia trees were dedicated and planted in memory of Mr. J.M. Lee, Mr. Sidney Kaiser and Ms. Patsy Brackin, residents who contributed significantly to the city's success.
