The Foley High School girls’ throwing group made history at the Class 7A Section 1 Track and Field Championship the last weekend of April when they scored 53 of the team’s 193.5 points – the most points scored in throwing events across Alabama this season.
Emily Wolf registered first in the discus throw (11’ 5.5”) and second in the shot put (35’ 3”) and javelin throw (94’ 11”). Taniya Bragg won the javelin throw (123’ 4”), and Vivian Jones (95’ 7”) and Shennell Kepple (33’ 9.5”) finished third in the discus and shot put, respectively.
The Fairhope High School boys’ track team claimed the team title by only two points over Foley with a first-place finish in the 4x800-meter relay to close the events. The trophy served as Fairhope’s second consecutive sectional championship.
Davis Amare swept the long-distance events and took first in the 800-meter run (2:00.05), 1600-meter run (4:25.74) and 3200-meter run (9:54.97). Matt Hall won the triple jump (44’ 1.25”), and Trenton Spaller won the javelin throw (164’ 11”).
