Foley Elementary is excited about AMSTI night for Kindergarten and Second grade. It will be held on Tuesday, February 7. Parents of our students in those grades, please try your best to attend this fun and informative night. We will be having an AMSTI night for our First, Third and Fourth grade students on February 28th.
Mrs. Lazauskas’ First grade class took a field trip to the Pelican’s Nest in Fairhope. The boys and girls enjoyed learning about laughing gulls, sea gulls and brown pelicans. The students learned all about a seine net and got to pick up shrimp, fish, crabs and shells. After collecting the different animals they were able to look at the animals up close through discovery scopes in the lab. The most memorable part was observing the food chain and watching the fish in Ms. Dindo’s salt water fish tank eat some of the fish that they just caught in Mobile Bay.
Mrs. Rockstall’s Third grade class is starting to gear up and get ready for the ARMT test. Students are practicing writing an answer to open-ended questions in reading and math. In science the boys and girls are learning to describe physical properties of common items found in the classroom. They will use this skill to help explore and identify 5 common household chemicals. This unit is always the students’ favorite! The class is also getting very excited about our AMSTI night coming up in a couple of weeks where parents will get to help their children dissect owl pellets and help the ant move around the paper.
Mrs. Carmyn Tucker’s class recently had a guest speaker from Alabama Cooperative Extension System. Her name was Leisa H. Myles. She created an actual water cycle in the classroom.
