It is beginning to look a lot like Christmas in downtown Foley, and the decorating is just beginning as the city’s huge holiday bash nears.
Last week, decorations began going up in the Heritage Park, and the city council hopes to have the city lit up by Thanksgiving night when hordes of holiday shoppers will drive through Foley to get to the Tanger Outlets.
Even though some preparations are already underway, local businesses and organizations will be given a chance to deck out a Christmas tree of their own to be displayed in Heritage Park for the 29th annual Christmas in the Park.
There is no fee associated with the tree decorating contest and it is open to any business or organization. Each organization is free to decorate their tree with any theme and as elaborately and creatively as they wish.
The Christmas tree must be a live tree six to eight feet tall in a container so it can be replanted after the holidays, and all decorations must be securely attached and able to withstand weather conditions.
All applications are due by Monday, Nov. 29 to the City of Foley. All trees must be set up for display by Dec. 1, and judging will take place on Dec. 2.
