D.J. Fluker and Robert Lester are next in a line of former Foley High School football stars to receive accolades for their play at the University of Alabama.

Following in former Lion and current Atlanta Falcon Julio Jones’ footsteps, Fluker and Lester are piling up the pre-season awards. Both players have been named to the  Coaches Pre-Season All SEC Team.

Lester, a 6-foot-2, 210-pound junior defensive back, was named to the All SEC First Team Defense, while Fluker (6-6, 335-pounds) was named to the Second Team Offense as a sophomore. Lester has recorded 60 tackles and eight interceptions in 21 games for the Crimson Tide. He has been named to the watch list for the Thorpe Award, which goes to the nation’s best defensive back each season, and to the watch list for the Walter Camp award, which goes to the top player in college football each year.

Select 7-on-7 Field set: The field for this weekend’s National Select 7-on-7 championship at Hoover High School has been set, and three Baldwin County teams will play in the 31-team tournament.

Daphne, Spanish Fort and Fairhope will compete against teams from every corner of the United States. Pool play begins Thursday at 3 p.m. and continues throughout the day on Friday, while the double-elimination tournament begins at 8 a.m. Saturday. A champion will be crowned after the finals at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.
