LOXLEY, Ala. — A Pensacola woman, Jennifer Nicole McCullough, 35, was arrested Dec. 23 and charged with being a fugitive from justice, felony eluding police, driving under the influence, reckless endangerment, possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia, resisting arrest, and criminal mischief.
Authorities in Escambia County, Fla., will have other charges against McCullough, a Loxley Police press report says.
According to authorities, McCullough attempted to rob a consignment store in Florida and left a gas station on Nine Mile Road without paying. Her vehicle was spotted and the Escambia Sheriff’s Office gave chase.
The chase ended on Interstate 10 in Loxley.
According to the press release, “A tire deflating spike effort was coordinated.” The device, according to the Loxley Police Department, belonged to the Baldwin County Sheriff’s Office.
The device shredded McCullough’s tires, but she proceeded several more miles before stopping. Unfortunately, the “tire deflating device” malfunctioned and deputies were not able to retrieve the device before several innocent motorists had their tires damaged. According to Lt. Doug Philips of the Loxley Police Department, no one was injured in the incident.
According to Captain Steve Arthur of the BCSO, the motorists with damaged tires will be compensated, “Through the Sheriff’s Office or the Baldwin County Commission.”
Arthur was not sure which body would be responsible for compensation. As of Monday morning McCullough was in the Baldwin County Corrections Center awaiting extradition to Florida.
